Building Community

Building community is vital for an organization like Safe Haven of Pender because it fosters shared ownership. Community members become partners in mission through advocacy, volunteering, and moral support. It helps broaden financial stability via donations, grants, and in-kind gifts. Legal and political backing from local stakeholders can lead to stronger protections, policies, and sustainable funding. Plus, social networks create safer, supportive environments, reducing isolation for survivors and increasing trust in services.

Safe Haven of Pender empowers survivors of domestic violence to reclaim control and build self-sufficiency. Since 1988, we’ve provided shelter, advocacy, and resources while working to break the cycle of abuse, raise awareness, and hold abusers accountable.
